Friends for a Season

Ever since I got out of college,God has been teaching me that HE alone is my Provider.I've got some lifelong friends and love them dearly.My life wouldn't be as good as it is without them.Then.I've got some "friends for a season".This is where God has taught me that He is my provider.Friends have been coming and going out of life ever since I got out of college.Alot of my college friends I don't keep in touch with.As a matter of fact,there are a couple that I don't even care to talk to.I started asking God,"why did you even bring them into my life if you knew this was how it was going to turn out?" I also asked "why do you allow me to make friends only to take then away a few months or a year later?". God told me it was to remind me to not get too comfortable and dependent with friends.That's not to say I'm not to get close to them and open my heart.However,I do so with the knowledge that God is the one who provided that person for a season to be what I need.My "friends for a season" have been wonderful to me and have come into my life EXACTLY when I needed them to.That is amazing to me how perfect God's timing is.Also,that He cares enough about me to provide for my needs in the way of friends.What I was looking at as sort of a cruel trick actually turned out to be God loving me :) It's still hard to develop these friendships when I think they won't be around long.I don't want to get too close.However,as one of my dear "friends of a season" told me while meeting a need for me,"look at it as like an open/closed hand.if you're hand is closed holding onto something and not willing to let it go,then God can't fill that hand with anything else until you do". So,I write this afternoon having spent some time with one of my dearest"friends for a season".I think we'll keep in touch once she gets married but I'm also sooooo grateful and thankful for her even if we never speak again.
